How to Make Prawn Pulao

  • Boil the prawn heads I water and add turmeric and salt.
  • Let the heads boil for 20 minutes, and strain the liquid after that.
  • Coat the prawns with the mixed marinade ingredients and let them marinate for half an hour.
  • Heat the oil inside a pan and add cinnamon sticks and green cardamom.
  • Add some aromatics.
  • Sauté onions till brown
  • Add green chilies and cook
  • Add ginger and garlic paste and stir
  • Add all powdered spices
  • Add coriander and turmeric powder.
  • Add tomatoes and some water
  • Now add grated coconut and stir.
  • Gently pour the rice
  • Turn the heat up
  • Cover and cook the rice.
  • Add the marinated prawns once done. Let it cook for 5 minutes and then garnish.

Trivia

Pulao is one of the most famous dishes in the Indian cuisine and seems to have inspired the Hyderabadi biryani.
