It is one of the more popular paneer recipes in Punjabi cuisine. It is a perfect blend of spiciness and creaminess and pairs well with almost any Indian bread, rice, or vegetables. You can eat it as a meal or as a small portion of a much larger meal.

How to Make Paneer Butter Masala

  1. Grind the chopped onions, garlic,and ginger into a coarse paste.
    1. Set aside.
  2. Heat 1/2 tbsp butter in a heavy bottom pan.
    1. Add cinnamon, cloves, bay leaf and cardamom.
    2. Cook for 4 seconds.
  3. Add the paste.
    1. Cook till it turns a golden brown.
  4. Add all the dry powders, sugar, and tomato puree.
    1. Cook for 2 minutes.
  5. Add 2 cups of water and reduce heat to low let the gravy simmer for 8 minutes.
    1. Mix in cream, the remaining butter, Kasuri methi,& paneer.
  6. Salt to taste
  7. Cook till paneer is soft.
  8. Garnish with chopped coriander.
  9. Serve and enjoy!
