Maaza is a commercial brand of mango juice largely sold in India and is popular during the notorious summers that tropical countries face. Maaza is one of those things that children love and easy to make at the same time, thank goodness for little mercies!

While the commercial version of Maaza contains a load of preservatives, homemade Maaza is loaded with only the goodness of native mangoes! The trick to storing your Maazafor long is by adding just a wee bit of citric acid to it.

    Health Benefits :

Mango fruity helps in the prevention of cancer. Well, maybe not directly but the mangoes present in the drink do just this. Mangoes have certain antioxidants that serve as protection against prostate cancer, leukemia, colon, and breast cancer. These antioxidants are astragalin, gallic acid, methylgallat, quercetin, and fisetin. Beat the summer heat by packing your Maaza juice in a Vaya Drynk and enjoy the chilled Drynk on the go!

    How to Make Homemade Maaza

    1. Carefully peel the skin from the mangoes. Chop mango pulp into pieces and discard the seeds.
    2. Add 1 cup of water into a pressure cooker along with the pulp, cover with the cooker lid and close the steam hole with a weight.
    3. place the pressure cooker over a high flame and let the cooker blow 4 to 5 whistles.
    4. Turn off the flame and let the cooker cool.
    5. combine sugar and water and let boil till the mixture turns to syrup.

Blend sugar and boiled mango pulp to smooth.

Add more water to achieve a juicy consistency and add citric acid. You Maazais ready!

For best taste, serve Maaza chilled!

    Trivia:

The origin of mangoes can be traced to any of these three places; the Andaman Islands, East India, or Burma.
