Black Beauty is right up there in the league of cocktails like martinis. The process of mixing a Black Beauty cocktail is even simpler than most drinks. One version of Black Beauty is just a mix-up of Sambuca, strong vodka, and ice, strained and served in cocktail glass and garnished with an olive.

Another version of Black Beauty is a mix of bourbon, cranberry juice, and schnapps to form a peach-colored drink, which is served on a highball glass on the rocks. This recipe features a different set of ingredients, such as pineapple juice, grape juice, white rum etc. These versions aside, Black Beauty is essentially what you want it to be. You can classify your Black Beauty however you want it so long as you get to enjoy it all summer long! To treat yourself and your sweetheart to a glass of homemade Black Beauty, read on!

    • Nelson Mandela Day is celebrated in South Africa annually on July 18. Black Beauty is the official cocktail of this celebration.
    • Grapes are also to be classified as berries. Just like blueberries, they have a fleshy inside covered by a leathery coating.
    • There are over 8,000 varieties of grapes and these are from an estimated 60 species. Mainly, the varieties are European and American.
    • One cup of grapes, with about 100 calories, provides more than a quarter of the daily recommended values of vitamins K and C. Grape seeds, which are edible, are chock-full of antioxidants.
    • Grapes grow in different colors. They could be red, white, blue, black, purple, golden, or green.
