There is never any hard and fast rule when it comes to preparing salads. However, this has not always been the way people prepared this easy meal. During ancient times, people used to enjoy simple kinds of salad. History states that the Babylonians used to dress their greens with oil and vinegar only. Egyptians favored their raw vegetables with ingredients like oil, vinegar, and Asian spices.

At the turn of the 20th century, the classic Caesar salad was introduced, consisting of greens, romaine lettuce, and a garlic vinaigrette dressing. It became one of the greatest recipes of America. Owing to its huge popularity, people started reinventing this dish in a number of delicious ways.

Here is a fresh and simple cucumber and avocado salad with a tangy-flavored dressing made with lime, garlic, and onions.
