How to Make Tamarind Date Chutney

  1. Soak jaggery and dates in hot water for 2 hours. Blend smooth, strain the paste, and tranfer it to a pan over medium heat.
  2. Add the tamarind paste and seasoning. Boil till thick enough to thinly coat the back of a spoon.
  3. Once the chutney is cooled completely, tranfer it to a clean airtight bottles and refrigerate.
    Note: Shelf life lasts about a month in the refrigerator.

Trivia

Tamarind gets its name from the word tamar-i-hind which means"date of India" in Arabic.
