Ingredients

How to Make Sweet Basil Tomato Sauce

  1. Take a deep pan.
  2. Heat up olive oil into the pan at high flame.
  3. Turn the heat medium and add onion into it.
  4. Fry the onion until it turns translucent.
  5. Add the minced garlic cloves into the pan.
  6. Fry these for about a minute until the garlic leaves a wonderful aroma.
  7. Now take the tomatoes and remove their green crowns with a knife.
  8. Throw in the tomatoes whole into the pan.
  9. Mash these to bits using the spoon as the pan stays on the heat at low flame.
  10. Keep mashing until the tomatoes are down to a pulp.
  11. Add a dash of salt into the pan to let the tomatoes cook faster.
  12. Keep cooking until the tomatoes turn into a fine paste.
  13. Add about 2 glasses of water into the pan.
  14. Cook the sauce until all the ingredients have blended well with water.
  15. Let the sauce simmer for about 15 minutes until it gets a thick consistency.
  16. Now add dried oregano into the pan and let the sauce simmer for about 15 more minutes.
  17. Add chopped basil leaves, freshly ground black pepper and salt into the pan.
  18. Turn the heat off and mix up everything well.
  19. Store it in a jar for later use or serve it as a side with your favorite meal after it cools down!
