How to Make Pomodoro Pasta Sauce

  1. In a large pot, stir the diced tomatoes, celery, carrots, sweet onion, garlic, tomato paste, red wine, water, sage, basil, parsley, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  2. Bring the mixture to boil.
  3. Reduce the flame to low heat and let the sauce cook at a simmer.
  4. Cook for about one hour until carrots are tender.
  5. Pour the sauce into a blender and start to blend.
  6. Blend the sauce to the point you have received a puree like a mixture.
  7. Pour the mixture into a dry container.

  • Pomodoro is an Italian word for ‘tomato.’
  • Tomatoes were brought to Italy by Spaniards in the 16th century and from there the name Pomodoro rose.

Pomodoro essentially means “golden apple.” It was given to tomatoes brought by Spaniards to Italy because of their yellowish color.
