How to Make Chopped Cheese Sandwich

    • Take a large cast-iron skillet and warm it up over medium-high heat.
    • Pour in the vegetable oil and add onion, ground beef, ½ teaspoon salt, and a few pinches of pepper.
    • Let it cook untouched to the point that the beef begins to develop a crust or for about 1 to 2 minutes.
    • Turn over using a spatula, crushing down the meat.
    • Let cook until browned or for another 30 seconds.
    • Blend in the pickled peppers, then organize the cheese over the mixture containing meat; take away from heat and allow melting.
    • Dispense the mayonnaise evenly on each side of the rolls.
    • Divide the beef among the roll bottoms. Top with lettuce, tomatoes, ketchup, hot sauce, and the roll tops.
    • Serve with potato chips and/or coleslaw.

    Trivia

Despite the fact that the chopped cheese sandwich has picked up a lot of hype lately, the real origin of the sandwich is still not certain.

Tremont Deli Grocery in the United States is credited to be the originator of the chopped cheese. There is a hypothesis that the sandwich was influenced by an Arabic delicacy, "dagha yamneeya", which is basically cooked using chopped meat and vegetables and is presented with Yemeni bread.

Some people argue that chopped cheese is an extremely old dish that has existed for centuries now and was introduced in the era of Columbus, while some think it is a recent formation.
