Pizza chefs around the world use a special language known as pizza lingo. A ball of dough ready for topping is known as ‘skin’. Mushrooms are often referred to as ‘screamers’ by these chefs and slices of small pepperoni are called ‘flyers’, since they’re thrown around the pizza kitchen like basic Frisbees.
