Adjust Servings:
For Seitan :
165 g wheat flour
3 tbsp nutritional yeast
½ tsp salt
1 tbsp paprika powder
180 ml cold water
2 tbsp soy sauce
For Stew :
1200 ml water
3 bay leaves
For Cooking Steaks :

Who says a vegan you can’t crave for a scrumptious steak? In fact, you have more options than your non-vegan pals when it comes to steak. A majority of people relate steak with a big slab of meat. However, this is not the case every single time. Any edible can be made into a steak; be it mushroom, watermelon, eggplant, or cauliflower.

Wheat flour primary ingredient that goes into the making of these vegan steaks. It is packed with protein, which is indispensable to building bones, muscle, and skin. Other than protein, wheat flour is rich in phosphorus too. Phosphorus makes up 1% of your body weight and it helps maintain and  and tissues. What flour also contains iron and selenium. While irons helps produce red blood cells, selenium is responsible for the production of DNA and thyroid hormones.

How to make Vegan Steak

  1. In a bowl, combine vital wheat gluten flour, nutritional yeast, salt, and paprika.
  2. Add water and soy sauce and knead to a smooth dough; flatten the dough on a plate.
  3. Cut it into desired shapes and press further to make each piece of dough thinner.
  4. In a pan, add water and bay leaves, bring to a boil, and reduce the heat.

Note: Do not turn off the heat. At this stage, ensure that the water is simmering and not boiling.

  1. Add the wheat-based steak, partially cover the pan, and cook for 30 - 40 minutes.
  2. In a skillet over high heat, add oil, and fry cooked steak until crispy.
  3. Transfer the vegan steaks to a bowl, add soy sauce, cover with a lid, and shake to cpread the sauce over the steak.
  4. Serve hot!
