Ingredients

Adjust Servings:
For Seitan :
165 g wheat flour
3 tbsp nutritional yeast
½ tsp salt
1 tbsp paprika powder
180 ml cold water
2 tbsp soy sauce
For Stew :
1200 ml water
3 bay leaves
For Cooking Steaks :
2 tbsp soy sauce
4-6 tbsp of cooking oil

How to make Vegan Steak

  1. In a bowl, combine vital wheat gluten flour, nutritional yeast, salt, and paprika.
  2. Add water and soy sauce and knead to a smooth dough; flatten the dough on a plate.
  3. Cut it into desired shapes and press further to make each piece of dough thinner.
  4. In a pan, add water and bay leaves, bring to a boil, and reduce the heat.

Note: Do not turn off the heat. At this stage, ensure that the water is simmering and not boiling.

  1. Add the wheat-based steak, partially cover the pan, and cook for 30 - 40 minutes.
  2. In a skillet over high heat, add oil, and fry cooked steak until crispy.
  3. Transfer the vegan steaks to a bowl, add soy sauce, cover with a lid, and shake to cpread the sauce over the steak.
  4. Serve hot!
