Ingredients

How to make Rava Paniyaram

  1. Have all the ingredients ready by measuring all of them correctly. Soak rava for 30 minutes with water just to cover till the rava absorbs all the water.
  2. Pour water and jaggery in a pan, heat it and melt it. With the help of strainer to remove impurities, filter the jaggery into a bowl.
  3. To the same bowl, add soaked rava, flour, grated coconut and cardamom. Mix all the ingredients very well then add banana, baking soda and 1 pinch of salt.
  4. Place your appam pan on low heat. Pour oil/ghee in each mold.
  5. With the help of a spoon, fill each mold3/4 full with batter. Cover and cook for 2-3 minutes until golden on color.
  6. Turn it to the other side with the help of a spoon. Add a little more ghee and cook for 2-3 minutes.

Trivia:

With the use of jaggery, these paniyaram has a soft texture and it tastes very delicious. Paniyaram makes a nice tiffin snack and can be prepared plain or masala paniyaram flavor. If you don’t have the special cookware, you can shallow fry these dumplings.
