This Meen Moilee with Steamed Rice is a Kerala styled fish draped in coconut curry. The curry is flavored with curry leaves, turmeric powder and green chili. Finally, the curry is served with some steaming rice that make it an amazing treat to have during dinnertime and lunchtime meals.

How to Make Meen Moilee with Steamed Rice

  • Heat coconut oil inside a pan with a heavy bottom.
  • Once the coconut is heated, add urad dal and black mustard seeds to the pan. Make sure that the urad daal is golden brown in color.
  • Once the urad daal gets golden brown in color, add curry leaves to the pan.
  • Add green chili julienne and ginger julienne to the mix
  • Add sliced onion to the pan and sauté them till they get golden brown in color.
  • Add turmeric powder and coconut milk to the mixture.
  • Simmer for around 2 to 3 minutes, and add some tomatoes.
  • Add fish fillets to the pan and simmer for another minute.
  • Add corianders and adjust the seasoning.
  • Serve the dish hot along with some steamed rice.
