The fajita is a Tex-Mex dishcomprisedof spiced, marinated meat strips, and veggies in a soft tortilla, made out of flour. The fajita is usually served with a spicy picante sauce or salsaand salad. The lime based marinade is used for its acidity and great flavour. It is a light lunch that keeps well in your Vaya Tyffyn lunch box.

How to make Chicken Fajita

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 250 °F.
  2. Mix cumin, chilli powder, cayenne pepper, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika together, and then set aside.
  3. Heat 1 tsp oil in a frying pan.
  4. Add chicken strips and using roughly 3/4th your seasoning mix, cover the chicken.
  5. Cook for approximately 8 minutes, or until the chicken is browned.
  6. Heat 2 tsp oil, and stir in the onions, bell peppers, and the remaining seasoning mix.
  7. Sauté, stirring occasionally for about 9 minutes, or until the vegetables become soft.
  8. Wrap the tortilla in tin foil, and warm them in the oven.
  9. Fill the tortillas with your chicken and vegetables, roll them, and garnish as desired.
  10. Serve your tasty chicken fajitas.

Note

You can marinate the whole chicken with the fajita seasoning and then cut it into strips later after searing it with hot heat.

Trivia

Chickens are able to see a full range of colours and this include violet and even, ultraviolet light. It is easier for chickens to distinguish colours than humans.
