A Bloody Mary is an iconic cocktail of tomato juice, vodka, and blends of flavorings and spices. These flavorings and spices include Worcestershire sauce, horseradish, piri piri sauce, herb and garlic salt, olives, lemon juice, black pepper, bouillon, lime juice, celery, salt, and/or celery salt. This easy to make cocktail is a widely-known hangover cure and a preferred brunch beverage. It can be prepared ahead of time and put into bottles. It is a beverage that is totally adjustable to fit your own taste – it can be as mild or spicy as you desire. Since the cocktail’s main ingredient is tomato juice, use good quality tomato juice. Use tomato juices from bottles rather than those in cans, and use fresh ones without additives to get a great cocktail. You can even make the tomato juice yourself if you have an electric juicer. As for spices for the cocktail, you can experiment with many flavors, intensities and brands. However, remember, to start with a little and add more until it suits your taste. The Bloody Mary relies on the garnishes because they also flavor the tomato juice. Pickle spear and celery stalk are the usual garnishes. You can use one or both of them. A pickle will add to the cocktail’s taste more than celery. A lemon wedge is a nice garnish as well.
