Bolognese sauce is a meat-based sauce that originated in Bologna, Italy. It is customarily used to dress ragout and to make Bolognese lasagna. The sauce itself is noted for its thickness, a property that it derives from slowly simmering the sauce over time. While this dish is definitely made to go with particular pastas, you should feel free to put it on whatever suits your fancy.
