How to make Mince and Potato Hot Pot

    • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F/175 degrees C.
    • Add potato slices in a medium bowl with enough water.
    • Heat the oil in a medium pan over medium heat.
    • Stir the ground beef, onion, tomato sauce, and Worcestershire sauce. Season it with salt and pepper.
    • Cook beef until you notice it evenly browned, and onions become soft.
    • To a separate medium saucepan, add 1/4 cup butter.
    • When butter melts, blend in the flour and slowly stir in milk.
    • Cook and stir the mixture for 5 minutes, or until it thickens.
    • Reduce the flame. Blend cheddar cheese and season with salt and pepper to taste.
    • Arrange a medium baking dish with half of potato slices.
    • Add the ground beef mixture, and top with mushrooms. Layer the cheese sauce mixture. Top with the remaining potatoes. End with two tablespoons butter.
    • Bake 30 - 40 minutes in the preheated oven until lightly browned.

Most people also wrap it in an Aluminium foil. This makes clean-up easier.

China is now the biggest potato producer, and almost a third of all potatoes are harvested in China and India.

‘Worcestershire sauce’ is also known as ‘Worcester sauce’ and, in Spanish, ‘salsa inglesa’, meaning ‘English sauce’.
