2 cups water
1 cup uncooked basmati rice
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp fish sauce
3 tbsp vegetable oil
1 tsp garlic – chopped
1 tsp white sugar
2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp white pepper
2 medium onions – cut into wedges
1 egg- beaten
1/4 cup green onions — chopped
1 tbsp cilantro — chopped
1 tsp lime juice – freshly squeezed
8 oz cooked crab meat

Crab Fried Rice

How to make Crab Fried Rice

  • Rinse rice in a sieve and run under cold water tap for a few minutes.
  • Boil water in a pan. Add the rinsed rice. Cover with a lid and cook for 20 minutes on a low flame.
  • Transfer the rice to a sieve and set aside for cooling. Heat oil in a non-stick pan on a low flame. Introduce the onions and the garlic into the oil. Stir-fry for 3 minutes.
  • Add the cooked rice to the pan and stir-fry for 2 minutes on a high flame.
  • Add the lime juice, fish sauce, soy sauce, white pepper, sugar, and salt to the rice. Mix well.
  • Stir in the beaten egg in the rice till the rice is coated with it.
  • Mix in the crabmeat and green onions. Cook for 5 minutes on a medium flame.
  • Remove from the flame and garnish with fresh chopped cilantro to serve.


Crabs are crustaceans with 10 limbs. There are about 5000 species of crabs. A crab uses its claws for many purposes. It can use them as scissors for cutting or as chopsticks to pick up food. Crabs communicate with each other by flapping their pincers or by drumming their claws.

Coconut crab is a giant hermit crab which lives on the islands in the Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean. It is the world’s largest land invertebrate as it can weigh up to 10 pounds.
