Ingredients
- ½ cup toor dal
- 2 cups water
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
For Sambar
- ½ a small pumpkin –cubed
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- ¼ tsp asafoetida
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- ¼ tsp asafoetida
- 1 sprig curry leaves
- 1 large onion – peeled and sliced
- 2 green chillies – slit
- 2 tbsp coriander powder
- 2 tsp chilli powder
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- ½ tsp sugar
- 2 tbsp tamarind pulp
- Water as needed
