Peanut sundal, also known as verkadalai sundal, is one of the very many varieties of sundal, which is traditionally prepared during the nine days of festivities of the Navratri festival. The key to this dish is its content of boiled peanuts, which are nutritious and have their own set of health benefits. Some people may not like the taste of boiled peanuts – it’s fair to say it’s an acquired taste – but that isn’t a problem with this recipe which makes use of many different spices and herbs.
Health Benefits
Most people don’t need to be told that peanuts firmly belong in the health food category. They have as many health benefits as they do unique uses (peanuts have a lot of different uses). Their biggest health benefits come from the peanut’s dietary fiber and protein content. This famous health duo keeps the digestive tract functioning well and helps to regulate weight and cholesterol levels. Eating peanuts also protects the body from heart disease and related symptoms.
