Ingredients

Adjust Servings:
1/4 cup moong dal or yellow split mung beans
1/2 cup oats
1/2-3/4 cup mix vegetables – chopped
2 tbsp onion
1 small tomato deseeded
1 3/4 - 2 cups water
Tempering for oats khichdi
1 tbsp ghee/oil
1/2 tsp cumin/jeera
1/2 tsp ginger grated – crushed
1 green chili slit
salt as needed
1/8 tsp turmeric
pinch of asafetida

How to make Oats Khichdi Recipe

  • Wash and soak moong dal in water.
  • Wash and chop veggies.

Make oats khichdi

  • Coat the pressure cooker with ghee.
  • Add cumin and heat till it begins to sizzle.
  • Add ginger and chilitill it turnsaromatic.
  • Add asafetida.
  • Add all the veggies and sauté for about 2-3 mins.
  • Drain the water from dal and pour the dal into the pot.
    • Cook for 2 -3 minsor until the dal turns aromatic.
  • Add oatmeal, salt and turmeric.
    • Cook for around 2 mins.
  • Pour water into the cooker.
    • NOTE: Adjust the water quantity to make the dal more mushy or grainy.
  • Cook for one whistle on a medium flame.
