- 1 yellow onion, diced
- 4-5 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes
- 1.24 ounce prego italian sauce
- 8-10 cup of chicken broth, low on sodium
- 1.15 ounces can crushed tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons of tomato paste
- 2 teaspoons of balsamic vinegar
- 1 1/2 teaspoon of granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon of dried basil
- 1 teaspoon of dried parsley
- 1 teaspoon of dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of pepper
- 1 whole bay leaf
- 10 lasagna sheets, uncooked and broken into 1 – 2-inch pieces
- 1/2 cup of heavy cream (optional)
