Ingredients

How to Make Italian Lasagna

  1. Brown bacon and onion in a large pan over medium heat.
  2. Stir in fennel seed, 1 tsp oregano, Italian seasoning, and tomato sauce.
  3. Cover, and simmer on low for 4 - 6 hours.
  4. Brown sausage links in a large skillet.
  5. Drain on paper towels.
  6. Cut into 1 in pieces.
  7. Mix together ricotta cheese, egg, milk, parsley, and 1 tsp oregano in a medium bowl.
  8. Layer 1 cup of sauce on the bottom of a 9 x 13 in pan.
  9. Layer with 1/3 uncooked lasagna noodles, 1/2 ricotta cheese mixture, 1/2 sausage pieces, 1/3 mozzarella, and 1/2 provolone cheese.
  10. Top with 1/3 sauce.
  11. Repeat layers.
  12. Top with remaining 1/3 noodles.
  13. Spread remaining sauce over the top, and sprinkle with remaining 1/3 mozzarella cheese.
  14. Bake at 175°C for 1 ½ hours.
