Summer is the season of scorching heat and high temperatures. One should eat a balanced diet in these months to keep the body cool. Seasonal fruits are best to be consumed in every season, not simply because of scarcity during other seasons, but also because of the health benefits they offer. Here are some summer foods to enjoy during the summer months.

Mango

Mango can be consumed in a variety of ways. You can enjoy a shake or simply relish it by cutting it into two halves. Mango has vitamins, antioxidants, and minerals. A 100 g serving of mango has approximately 60 calories.

Coconut water

When you are looking at hydrating during the summer months, this is the best drink to consume. There are approximately 46 calories in one cup of coconut water.

Sugarcane juice

Sugarcane juice is best to fight the heat during summers. It is also packed with numerous vitamins. One cup of sugarcane juice contains 183 calories.

Ice cream

One cup of chocolate ice cream has about 286 calories, so the next time you eat ice cream during the summer months, watch out for the calorie count!

Yogurt

It is considered to be the healthiest food to consume in summers. One cup of low-fat frozen yogurt contains approximately 210 calories.

Melons

Muskmelons and watermelons are the perfect summer fruits. Watermelon contains approximately 90% water. A 100 g serving of watermelon has 30 calories and a 100 g serving of muskmelon has 34 calories. This makes these the best fruits to have during the summer months.

Buttermilk

Buttermilk contains vitamins and minerals which make up for the loss of the same due to excessive sweating. One cup of buttermilk contains 99 calories.

Lime water

Lime water, also called nimbu paani, is an ideal refreshing drink for the summer. A glass of nimbu paani has numerous health benefits. One glass of lime water has 77 calories.

With summer comes many different health issues, associated with heat. It is important to have a healthy diet, one rich in coolants. But if you are for some reason, watching you weight, then it is mandatory that you know the number of calories your are consuming through these foods.
