Is Overeating Healthy Foods Harmful?
Surely enough, overeating healthy foods laden with minerals and nutrients can never be harmful, right? Nope! Excess of anything, says an ancient Sanskrit verse, is to be avoided. The same goes for healthy foods as well!
Well, binging on healthy foods all do will really defeat the purpose of staying healthy. This is also true for weight watchers, for, if you end up consuming more calories than you burn, you’ll not be able to shed off some kgs.
In the end, it is important to follow a balanced approach.
Nuts
Nuts are superfoods and are extremely rich in fiber, healthy fats, and proteins. However, overindulgence in nuts will do you no good. With lots of proteins and fat, nuts might end up causing health problems. It is advisable to eat a mix of nuts such as almonds, raisins, walnuts, and pistachios.
Protein-rich Foods
Foods rich in proteins are great for good health. However, excessive consumption can put some strain on your kidneys, which work hard to remove nitrogenous wastes from the system.
Fruits
Eating lots of fruits with a high glycemic index such as bananas, mangoes, pineapples, and dates can lead to a rise in the blood sugar levels. It can also potentially lead to the risk of developing type-2 diabetes. This, of course, doesn’t mean you stop eating fruits. What it means is for you to eat fruits in a balanced way.
Water!
Well, sounds funny enough, but it’s true, without a doubt. Drinking lots of water in a very short interval of time can lead to low levels of sodium in the blood which can even prove fatal. Called hyponatremia or water intoxication, this is a very serious condition indeed. Stay hydrated and drink lots of water but once again, in a balanced way throughout the day.
