The Healthier Choice – Muesli or Oats?
When it comes to choosing a proper breakfast dish, you typically have to balance a few factors: ready time (how quickly can we prepare it?), tastiness (how edible is it?), and most importantly healthiness (what does this do for health?). There are lots of options out there for breakfasts, and each of them comes with their own pros and cons. Each option handles one of these three factors in their own unique way. A fruit and plant protein powder smoothie can be made quickly, and is healthy, but it might not be tasty on its own without adding some sort of sweetener, thanks to the protein powder. On the other hand, a nice veggie omelet, might be tasty and healthy, but could slow you down in the morning. Two options that keep coming up when trying to meet all three of these factors are muesli and oats. They are quite similar, as they are both made of oats, but which one is better for you overall?
Oats
Oats are a type of whole grain having health benefits of whole grains. They’re high in fiber, satiating, provide carbs, protein, and are generally a nutrient balanced food. Raw oats are 100% natural and unprocessed, making them one of the best things you can eat. They also have a chemical that helps you release protein and can improve men’s libido. You can quickly and easily prepare them, without a hitch. Eating rolled or steel cut oats will keep your diet healthy.
Muesli
Muesli is a combination of raw oats and dried fruits and nuts. This can make your oats a bit tastier and more edible and has a higher protein content. They have everything oats have to offer and then some. The only thing is muesli has added sweeteners which gives this dish a sugar content that can be bad for your diet. Muesli can also take a little bit longer to prepare.
In the end, both dishes are pretty healthy for you, but oats are a little bit healthier while also being a little bit less tasty. You can’t go very wrong eating either one though.
