Natural Ways to Get Rid of Tartar Buildup

Having a bright beautiful smile can make all the difference when it comes to your self-confidence. That’s why it is important to make sure to counteract tartar buildup. Tartar is the yellow hard deposits that accumulate on your teeth from eating foods. It is the result of plaque and bacteria buildup. Brushing your teeth may not be enough to counteract it – below are some natural remedies to help counteract tartar.

Baking Soda

Baking soda is a base and has the ability to neutralize acids that have accumulated in your mouth. This will help whiten your teeth for that truly bright smile. To apply it, make a paste by mixing 2 tbsp baking soda and 1 tbsp salt in a small cup of water.

Aloe Vera
Aloe vera is a natural gel that you can apply to your teeth to actually kill the bacteria responsible for causing tartar. It can do this thanks to its antimicrobial properties which also fights halitosis. Apply the aloe vera by cracking open a fresh aloe vera leaf and rubbing the gel on your teeth. Let it sit for 10 minutes before rinsing your mouth out.

Guava
Guava may not directly remove your tartar buildup, but it has the ability to alleviate some of the symptoms, which is a part of good treatment. It provides pain relief thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties, and it helps to reduce swelling. Simply take some freshly washed guava leaves, chew them up, then spit them out.

Cloves
Cloves have antimicrobial properties that fight the bacteria responsible for tartar. They also help your mouth smell lovely. To apply them to your teeth, mix 1 tbsp of clove powder with some olive oil, then rub the mixture on your teeth. Let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing off with lukewarm water.

White Vinegar
White vinegar helps to kill the bacteria in your mouth that can cause tartar. Simply mix 2 tbsp vinegar with 1 tbsp of salt and a cup of warm water. Use this as a mouth wash.

Rosemary Essential Oil

Rosemary oil has more antibacterial properties and can serve as another type of astringent mouth wash. Combine 2 drops of rosemary oil with 1 tbsp of water and rinse your mouth twice daily.

Black Tea
Black tea naturally counteracts plaque and bacteria. You can utilize it as an effective mouthwash.
