Here are some tips to keep eye infections away during the monsoons.
Staying away from eye infections during the rains
- Stye is very common during the monsoon season and it caused due to bacterial infection. It occurs as a lump on the eyelid. There could be redness, discharge of pus or pain. Warm and cold compresses will provide relief from the symptoms. If the size of the lump increases, consult your doctor immediately.
- Do not share towels and personal items with others as infections spread through clothes, hands, and commonly touched items. If someone is suffering from conjunctivitis, always wash hands after putting drops into the eye.
- Also, do not use contact lenses when you have an eye infection.
- Always wash hands when you come from outside to prevent any bacterial infection during the monsoon season.
- Dry eyes are also a common problem during the monsoon season. Exposure to cold air and wind causes dry eyes. Do not try to treat the symptoms yourself. Always visit your doctor.
- Who doesn’t like dancing in the rain? It’s all fine, of course! In case you get wet, make sure you take a bath with clean water. This will help protect you from bacterial infections.
- Also, do not allow water to collect around your house. It will add to the bacterial content in the air which could lead to eye infections.
