Summers are officially the best time of the year for kids considering the much-awaited summer vacations! It’s that time of the year when kids endlessly play and engage in fun-filled activities they have been looking out for the whole year. From exciting indoor games to amazing outdoor sports there is so much to do come summers. However, there are certain things to remember when it comes to caring for your kid in summers.
Caring for your kid in summers
- Advise your kid to wear light-colored and loose-fitting clothes. These are best to keep the body cool in the scorching summers.
- Ensure that your kid wears sunscreen before heading out in the summer sun. The sunscreen should be at least SPF 30.
- Ask your kids to play outdoors during the early hours of the morning and in the late evening. Remember that the UV rays from the sun are the strongest between 11 am and 3 pm.
- Ensure that your kid drinks enough water throughout the day. Encourage him/her to drink at least 8 glasses of water every day. Drinking water frequently will help kids stay hydrated in the summers.
- It is also important to keep insects away during summers. Protect your kid from mosquitoes and encourage him to stay away from tall grasses and heavily wooded areas.
- Let not the hot summers make your kid a couch potato. It is okay to watch television or surf the internet but your kid shouldn’t be doing this all day. Encourage him/her to play outdoors, learn swimming or go out for a walk with you in the late evening. Pick up the right time for the outdoor activities and there’s nothing to worry! Outdoor activities are much better for kids than sitting inside watching TV or playing games all day. It is important to enjoy a mix of several varied activities!
