Is the Carnivore Diet Good for You? Check Out What it is All About!

The carnivore diet is the complete opposite of a vegan diet. Instead of completely avoiding eating animal products, all you do is eat animal products. Specifically, all you eat is meat – no fruits, no carbs, no vegetables. In a way it’s an extreme version of a keto diet. Like the ketogenic diet, the carnivore diet is entirely based off gaining energy from protein and fats. The idea is that your body will enter ketosis and begin to burn fats while only using as much protein as it needs

The major benefit of this diet is you don’t have to bog yourself down with a bunch of hard to digest (hope you enjoyed that pun) nutritional knowledge. You can get started on this diet today without any real thought. You only have to make sure that you don’t eat anything other than meat for the next month. Just make sure it’s not fried. And yes, you can also eat dairy. So, meat, and milk is fine. Nothing else though.

FOODS YOU SHOULD AVOID:

  • Carbohydrates
This diet requires you to eat absolutely NO carbs. That means no candy, no vegetables, and especially no bread.
  • Supplements
You cannot eat supplements on this diet either. Ideally, you are supposed to get all the vitamins and minerals you need from the meat that you eat. The animals eat the vegetables for you.

FOODS YOU ARE ALLOWED TO EAT:

  • Meat
All flesh that comes from animals, including beef, poultry, mutton, and fish, although red meat is the preferred staple. You need to make sure you’re eating fattier meat though since you aren’t eating carbs.
  • Dairy
Dairy products are technically allowed, but most extreme carnivores tend to avoid it or limit it. This is mostly due to lactose intolerance becoming more common.

At the end of the day, this diet is probably worth trying so long as it’s for a limited amount of time. Maintaining it any longer than 30 days will probably result in some serious health problems over time.
