Obesity is one of the biggest health issues facing the world today. It is a medical condition that occurs when a person begins to carry excess body fat or weight to the point that their health is affected. Typically, a high body mass index (BMI) is a good sign that a person has become obese. A BMI ranging between 25-29.9 means that a person is carting around excess weight. But, a BMI of 30 or higher is a sign that a person has become obese.
You definitely want to avoid becoming obese or reverse the condition as soon as possible because it can cause some serious health issues. Some of the more severe issues include, arthritis, metabolic syndrome, certain types of cancer, heart disease, diabetes, stroke, and death.
Speaking in very general terms, obesity is caused by overeating and lack of exercise. The same behavior responsible for helping you to put on weight are responsible for making you obese. But sometimes, even when you do eat properly and exercise, you can still find yourself putting on weight in an unhealthy way. There are many factors outside of your diet and exercise that can affect your weight by affecting your bodily processes and your hormone production.
One subtle example is weight gain can be caused by the times that you choose to eat your food. Your meal times actually trigger your body’s metabolization periods and determine how much food you need to energize your body to operate throughout the day. This is one of the big reasons that breakfast is such an important meal of the day. When you eat breakfast, it sets the pace for your eating schedule for the rest of the day. If you skip breakfast, you will find yourself supplementing it throughout the day, most likely via the consumption of sugary snacks.
