How to Get Rid of Vaginal Odor

The vagina produces natural odors which vary from woman to woman. The odor is usually musky and fleshy. If you experience an unfamiliar smell, it could be the result of some infection. Itching, unusual discharges, irritation, and strong odors could be the cause of some infection. Consult your gynecologist who would be the best judge to advise you about the underlying problem and its treatment. Here are some ways to get rid of vaginal odor.

Getting rid of vaginal odor

  • Stay hydrated. Drink at least 8 glasses of water. This will help to maintain the body’s overall health
  • Always maintain good hygiene. Do not use loofahs to clean as they can cause infection. Cleaning will remove sweat and dirt and will also remove dead skin. Do not use perfumed soaps.
  • Change your undergarments regularly. If your undergarment gets wet due to sweating after workout or for any other reason, change it as the wet cloth could be a breeding ground for bacteria.
  • Wear cotton underwear: Make sure you wear cotton underwear as cotton allows the skin to breathe. Do not wear silk, polyester or satin underwear.
  • Pour one or two cups of apple cider vinegar into warm water in a bathtub and soak for 20 minutes. Vinegar will help to reduce bacteria.
  • Wear loose clothes: Tight clothes will not allow the skin to breathe. Always wear loose-fitting clothes to maintain good vaginal health. .
  • Include fresh leafy vegetables, fruits, and whole grains in your diet. A balanced diet will take care of the body.
  • Include probiotic-rich foods in your diet. Probiotic-rich foods help to maintain the pH balance of the vagina. These include yogurt and kombucha.
  • Do not use scrubs. They will eliminate the good bacteria that maintain the pH level so it is best to stay away from scrubs.
