One of the biggest issues doctors have been warning about over the last couple decades has been the increase in salt consumption that has swept the world. Salt is being included in more and more foods than it used to in the past. And to top it all off, most people add extra sodium to their food, most commonly in the form of table salt. That innocuous little salt shaker might spell your doom if you’re not careful. This is especially the case when you consider that not all sodium products are made equally. Table salt especially is worst for you than other forms of natural salt.
Table salt is most often not a whole salt product. It typically contains a whole series of additives such as, chloride, bleach, anti-caking agents, etc., that make it a questionable ingredient to include in your food. Table salt like this is treated as a toxin by your body. When your body absorbs table salt and its many additives, its first reaction is to dilute the substance. A direct symptom of this dilution process is the formation of puffiness, cellulite, fatigue, and possibly increased blood pressure.
The amount of bloating can be significantly more than you can imagine. Many people report to losing about 3 pounds when they switch from table salt. The bloating is caused by water that is held outside the cells. When water is outside your cells, it isn’t providing the body with energy or stamina.
If you still need your salt fix but want to avoid some of the negative health benefits associated with table salt, try switching to Himalayan salt or pink salt. It is a naturally occurring salt that does not have to be treated or processed with mild toxins. Your body tends to treat it less like a threat and more like an actual nourishing substance.
