Foods That Could Potentially Increase the Risk of Cancer

Cancer is one of the worst diseases for anyone to have to deal with. It occurs when your cells begin to grow irregularly and for your genes and DNA to mutate. Cancer is caused by a lot of different factors: carcinogens in chemicals, obesity, radiation, chronic inflammation, viruses, smoking, etc. At the end of the day, cancer is caused by chemicals and radiation, which can come in a variety of different forms. It can be the result of outside sources like smoke exposure or from internal sources in the form of food.  Read on to see some of the foods most likely to cause cancer.

Cancer causing foods to reduce your risk of obtaining cancer

Microwave popcorn

Popcorn makes for some of the best snack foods, so it’s no wonder that microwave popcorn is so popular. It is cheap, easy to prepare, and pretty healthy as far as the popcorn is concerned. But popcorn is healthy, and microwave popcorn not so healthy. The artificial butter used in microwave popcorn releases diacetyl when heated up. Diacetyl is toxic and over exposure can mutate your DNA.

Canned goods

Canned goods are another convenient food source that people turn to when trying to eat healthy quickly. Most cans used to store food are lined with bisphenol-A (BPA) which has the ability to genetically alter brain cells. BPA is found in a lot of plastic goods like, lunchboxes water bottles, food storage jars and even toothbrush containers. This is one reason stainless-steel lunchbox and water bottles are emerging back in the market with a bang!

Refined sugar

High fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is one of the biggest cancer causing foods. It and other refined sugars cause major insulin spikes which can fuel the growth of cancer cells. Try using natural sweeteners such as, honey, agave, coconut sugar, and maple sugar as a safe option.
