Chili Fish

Fish makes about 1/6th of the world’s source of protein.  In Asian countries fish is valued highly; so highly that they have a fantastic method cooking it. Chunks of fish, fried until crisp, then cooked in a chili sauce is a delicacy to most Asian residents.

Ingredients

boneless fish: 2 1/4 lb

egg, beaten: 1

cornstarch: 5 tbsp

soy sauce: 1 1/2 tbsp

ginger paste: 1 1/2 tsp

Ground black pepper to taste

salt to taste

vegetable oil: 1 cup

Chopped garlic

Thinly sliced onion

Thinly sliced red and green pepper

green chilies--chopped: 2

tomato sauce: 1/4 cup

vinegar as needed

How To Make Chili Fish

  1.  Place the fish into a large bowl. Add egg, cornstarch, 1 tbsp. soy sauce, and1/2 tsp. ginger paste. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  2. Refrigerate about 30 minutes to marinate.
  3. Heatenough oil in a frying pan for shallow frying. Fry the fish in the oil.
  4. Heat2 tbsp. oil in another pan. Add some chopped garlic and onion slices and fry for 2 minutes.
  5. Add bell peppers and green chilies and fry for a few minutes.
  6. Add 1 tsp. ginger paste and fry a few seconds. Add tomato sauce and 1/2 tbsp. soy sauce.
  7. Add fried fish then vinegar and stir well.
  8. After about 15 minutes, mix some cornstarch with water then add to the pan and stir well.
  9. Serve chili fish with white rice while hot.
