Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) is an umbrella term to label one of a myriad of conditions that cause chronic inflammation of the GI tract. The two most common types of IBD are ulcerative colitis and Chron’s disease. In the former, chronic inflammation and ulcers pop up continuously throughout the small intestine and colon. The latter, features inflammation that appears in patches throughout the entire GI tract, from the mouth to the anus. Typical symptoms of IBD are diarrhea, acid reflex, stomach cramps, blood in your stools, black stools, weight loss, loss of appetite, fever, inflammation of the joints, skin, or eyes.
There are available medicines for treating IBD, but the best method for curing your IBD is to adjust your diet. You should focus on not eating foods that can irritate your IBD and instead focus on eating foods that don’t flare it up and actually soothe it. You basically want to stay away from foods that you know will affect your gut. For example, spicy food can cause any person to have stomach pains or severe diarrhea. If you suffer from IBD, you should be sure to avoid foods like this.
