Are Your Kids Skipping Their Breakfast? Here are Some Nutritional Facts You Need to Know!

We know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It sets the pace of the rest of your day and makes sure you have all the correct energy to function properly. It can be hard to get your children on board the breakfast train. Even children may think they don’t have enough time to sit down and eat a healthy breakfast in the morning, or maybe they just don’t like what ‘healthy’ breakfasts taste like.

You may be tempted to just provide quick serve breakfast options. That would be a mistake though; breakfast is just too important to skimp on. That being said, you do not have to make an elaborate breakfast for it to be healthy. You really just need to understand what makes a healthy breakfast.

What You Need to Know About Making a Healthy Breakfast

The basis for a healthy breakfast is actually pretty simple. You need protein, some dietary fiber, and some fat. So long as you have those three in reasonable portions, your breakfast will be beneficial to you.

Pick Your Protein

Protein is important to eat in the morning because protein burns slowly. It will leave you feeling fuller for a longer period of time and it will provide you energy throughout the day. If you find yourself feeling the urge to snack a lot throughout your day, you may need to increase the amount of protein you’re eating for breakfast.

Add In Some Fiber Rich Carbohydrates

It is easy to find some carbs to eat for breakfast, but not all carbs should be eaten. You want to focus on eating fiber rich carbohydrates. Eating them early in the day prevents your blood sugar levels from spiking and subsequently falling, which can result in becoming hungry quickly after eating.

Top It Off With Some Health Fats

The old ideas that eating fats was bad for you are beginning to disappear. It’s time to get rid of the egg whites and fat free cream, because fat is actually an important nutrient. It keeps your body and your brain running properly.
