Here’s why you should feed fruits and vegetables to your little one

We all know how important it is for kids to eat fruits and vegetables since these are powerhouses of minerals, vitamins, and other nutrients. However, it can be quite a task coaxing your kid to include these in his diet. Junk food is increasingly becoming popular but it is not without several serious health risks. You should keep your little one away from junk and processed foods and inculcate in them healthy eating habits.

Health benefits of fruits and vegetables for kids

  • Fruits are known to help boost immunity. They are known to contain important nutrients like vitamin C and E which can boost immune function. It is highly recommended for kids to eat fresh fruits to stay away from diseases and infections.
  • Fresh fruits such as blueberries, apples, and avocados help remove toxins from the body and flush out all systems.
  • The consumption of fresh fruits will also help keep obesity away which is a major problem in modern times and is also affecting kids. Fruits have fewer calories compared to junk and processed foods.
  • The regular consumption of certain vegetables can lower the risk of developing type-2 diabetes.
  • Bananas, melons, and oranges are great sources of potassium.
  • Fruits are also a great source of fiber which helps keep digestive system problems at bay.
  • Dark green veggies including spinach contain large amounts of vitamin A, vitamin B7, and vitamin B9.
  • Interestingly enough, the calcium in vegetables in more easily absorbed than that in dairy products.
  • It is particularly important to give your kid seasonal fruits since these are especially healthy.
  • Red colored vegetables are known to help fight free radical damage. These include tomato and red bell pepper, for instance.
  • Purple-colored vegetables are known to ensure good heart and brain health.
