A Tuna Casserole is one of those timeless family favorites that can be served on any occasion. Not only are they suitable if you plan to have a grand family reunion, it’s also suited if you’re home alone and want something nice to enjoy. It’s a perfect dish that combines flavor with nutrition.

Ingredients
coarse salt and ground pepper
tubetti or elbow macaroni: 3/4 pound
panko (Japanese breadcrumbs): 1 cup
parmesan, grated: 1/2 ounce
extra virgin olive oil: 2 tbsp
all-purpose flour: 3 tbsp
yellow onion, diced small: 1
low sodium chicken broth: 2 1/2 cups
whole milk: 1 1/2
solid light tuna packed in water, drained and flaked: 2 cans
frozen peas (thawed): 1 cup
How To Make Tuna Casserole
- Make sure that you preheat the oven to around 425 degrees F.
- Fill a large bowl with salted water.
- Cook pasta in it for around 2 minutes.
- There is some pasta that need to be cooked longer or shorter, so check the package instructions.
- Once properly boiled, drain the bowl.
- Add panko, Parmesan and 2 teaspoons of oil.
- Toss these 4 together until they’re mixed properly.
- In a separate pot, heat 2 tablespoons of oil over medium-heat.
- Add onions, salt and pepper for seasoning and continue cooking.
- Now add flour and stir until the onions are properly covered in the flour.
- Add some milk and continue stirring for 2 minutes.
- Keep stirring on a slow burn until it comes to boil.
- Reduce the heat even more and keep stirring until the sauce has thickened.
- Mix in the pasta, tuna, some peas and some salt and pepper for seasoning.
- Once you’ve mixed them properly, transfer the mixture into a baking dish.
- Top it off with a panko mixture.
- Put it to bake until you see the sauce visibly boiling.
- This should take around 20 minutes.
- Let the dish rest at room temperature before serving.
