Ingredients

Italian seasoning: 2 tsp

Dried oregano: 2 tsp

tomato sauce: 2 tbsp

all-purpose flour: 100 gm

grated parmesan cheese: 1 cup

grated mozzarella cheese: 1 cup

cooking oil as needed

tofu slices: 6-8

salt to taste

Freshly ground black pepper to taste

chopped fresh parsley leaves: 1 cup

How To Make Tofu Parmigiana

  1. Take a large mixing bowl.
  2. Pour all-purpose flour into it.
  3. Add Italian seasoning and dried oregano into the flour.
  4. Add salt and freshly ground black pepper into the flour as per your taste.
  5. Add grated parmesan cheese to the mixture.
  6. Mix it all well.
  7. Coat tofu slices into the all-purpose flour and parmesan mix.
  8. Set them aside until they are needed for frying.
  9. Heat up a deep pan with oil that should be at least half filled for deep frying the tofu. You can choose to use less oil if you want. With less oil, cook one side of the tofu for at least 3 minutes before flipping it let the other side cook.
  10. Once, the oil is properly heated up deep fry tofu into the oil for 3 minutes at medium flame.
  11. Remove the tofu from the heat when it turns golden brown.
  12. Preheat your oven at 250 degrees Fahrenheit.
  13. Place all the tofu in a baking dish with its bottom greased with oil and tomato sauce.
  14. Spread some tomato sauce on top each of the tofu.
  15. Sprinkle the top of the tofu with grated mozzarella cheese.
  16. Bake the tofu at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for at least 20 minutes.
  17. Pull out the tofu when it is done.
  18. Garnish it with chopped fresh parsley leaves.
  19. Serve it as a starter with your favorite sauce or as a side with your favorite pasta!
