One of the strongest flavored tea leaves is found in Sri Lanka. The second place is given to Assam tea in India. Tea is considered as the most consumed beverage in the world with many types of leaves. As the days passed, tea leaves are blended with other herbal ingredients and fruits too. Most often tea is consumed during the social activities or just as a neuron booster. It is also scientifically proven that tea can improve cognitive abilities. Thai Iced tea, which served cold is made from black tea leaves, which is the main ingredient for tea with milk and that was before green tea came along. Thai iced tea is prepared with milk, and the other variants in iced tea don’t use milk.

Ingredients

2 ½ cups water

½ cup Thai tea mix (black tea)

tbsp sugar: 2

ice

1/2 cup milk (half and a half)

How To Make Thai Ice Tea

  • In a small saucepan, bring water to a boil on medium-high
  • Add Thai mix and sugar and stir it. On low flame boil gently for 3 mins.
  • Allow tea to steep for approximately 10-15mins. Use a strainer to strain the tea mix and let it cool down.
  • Fill glasses with ice. Pour in the steeped Thai tea approximately two-thirds full.
  • Fill the glass with milk, stir and serve.

Trivia

In Thai restaurants, Thai tea is served in a tall glass. However, when sold from street and market stalls in Thailand it may be poured over the crushed ice in a plastic bag or tall plastic cups. It may also be made into a frappé at some sellers.

Although Thai tea is not the same as bubble tea, a Southeast and East Asian beverage that contains large tapioca pearls, Thai tea with tapioca pearls is a popular flavor of bubble tea.
