Surf and Turf Bloody Mary

The Bloody Mary cocktail is a nutritional breakfast or afternoon drink that is soaked with vodka. It was invented around the 1920s and there many theories about the origin of this great drink. This tomato-based cocktail has a lot of variations. A classic Bloody Mary usually contain a mixture of vodka and tomato juice with a combination of other flavorings or spices which usually includes lemon juice, horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, lime juice, celery salt, amongst others.

What’s more, it can be garnished with many things ranging from a tiny cheeseburger to bacon or a shrimp skewer.
This version of Bloody Mary is a Surf and Turf Bloody Mary; it contains a garnish of Surf and Turf skewers.

Health Benefits

Although the drink contains vodka, other ingredients, such as tomatoes, horseradish, celery, and Tabasco hot sauce are rich in antioxidants. Tomato juice gives your body lycopene, an important anti-oxidant which helps prevent the
formation of cancerous cells as well as some other types of health diseases and complications. Tabasco hot sauce is rich in capsaicin, which helps raise the temperature of your body and thereby help to burn more calories after eating. The chillies are also a good source of vitamin c. Also, the celery stick does more than just garnishing; it is filled with phytochemicals, which helps in reducing the risk of diabetes, cardiac disease and various types of cancer.

Ingredients

lemon wedges: 1

premium Vodka: 2 ounces

tobasco sauce: 2 dashes

tomato juice: 4 ounces

Worcestershire sauce: 2 dashes

Prepared horseradish: 2 tsp

Freshly ground black pepper: 1 pinch

smoked paprika: 1 pinch

celery salt: 1 pinch

How To Make Surf and Turf Bloody Mary

  1. Pour small celery salt into a little plate.
  2. Rub the side of the lime or lemon that’s juicy along a pint glass’s lip.
  3. Roll the edge of the pint that’s outer in the plate with celery salt until it is fully coated.
  4. Fill it with ice. Set aside for a while.
  5. Squeeze the lime and lemon wedges into a normal shaker then drop them in.
  6. Add the other remaining ingredients then fill it with ice.
  7. Shake gently. Strain into the glass you’ve prepared.
  8. Add 2 meatballs and skewered surf and turf to the drink
  9. Garnish with a lime wedge or a celery stalk.

Trivia

There is a legend that says that the Bloody Mary cocktail’s origin can be traced back to the 1550s, to Queen Mary I of England who opposed the English reformation and in turn massacred citizens who were . The vodka symbolizes the brutal way she executed the martyrs while the tomato juice stands for the blood baths she was responsible for.
