Ingredients

sliced chicken breast: 1 pound

lemon Juice: 2 tbsp

chili powder: 1 tsp

cumin powder: 1 tsp

black pepper powder: 1 tsp

olive oil: 1 tbsp

salt to taste

finely diced tomato: 1 cup

roasted bell pepper: 1/2 cup

green chilies: 1 can

finely diced red onion: 1 tbsp

salt to taste

Freshly ground black pepper to taste

olive oil: 1 tbsp

lemon Juice: 2 tbsp

sliced green bell pepper: 1

sliced red bell pepper: 1

sliced white onions: 7

seeded and sliced jalapeno: 1

minced garlic: 1 tbsp

salt to taste

Freshly ground black pepper to taste

chipotle pepper: 1

olive oil: 3 tbsp

How To Make Spicy Mexican Fajita

For Marinating the Chicken

  1. Take a large mixing bowl.
  2. Add chicken slices into the bowl.
  3. Add lemon juice into it.
  4. Add chili powder, cumin powder, black pepper powder, olive oil and salt into the mixing bowl.
  5. Make sure all the spices coat the chicken completely and leave it for marinating for at least 20 to 25 minutes.

For the Sauce

  1. Take a mixing bowl.
  2. Add tomatoes, roasted bell peppers, canned green chilies, and finely diced red onion into the bowl and mix everything well.
  3. Season it with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  4. Add lemon juice and olive oil into the bowl.
  5. Set it aside until it is needed for the Fajita.

For the Fajita

  1. Place a large non-stick frying pan on the stove on low heat.
  2. Add olive oil into the pan and heat it up.
  3. Add the marinated chicken into the pan and stir fry it for at least 5 to 8 minutes.
  4. Add the sliced green bell peppers, sliced red bell peppers, sliced white onions, minced garlic, seeded and sliced jalapenos and chipotle pepper into the pan.
  5. Stir fry it for a couple of minutes after seasoning with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  6. Remove from the heat and serve hot!

  • The word ‘fajita’ translates to little belt.
  • Mexican food is quite healthy as it is generally a mix of different things which bring different nutrients in one place.

In northern Mexico, dishes with beef are more popular and in Southern Mexico, dishes with chicken have the upper hand.
