Sweet dishes have a special meaning for Italians. It is an integral part of a cuisine that is popular around the world for its savory and pasta items. However, this one dish can hold its own against either one of those savory items in both taste and its popularity. The reason for that is because it is still a pasta dish due to it being ravioli. However, instead of meat being the filling…it’s either jam or chocolate.

This makes it an instant favorite amongst the children who continuously ask for more of these. It is both easy to make and requires the most basic ingredients to complete.

Ingredients

all-purpose flour: 2 1/2

Butter: 3 1/2 tbsp

Sugar: 1 tbsp

egg: 1

milk: 3 tbsp

rum: 2 tbsp

zest of lemon: 1

Vanilla extract: 1 tsp

pinch of salt: 1

jam

icing sugar

Vegetable oil for deep-frying

How To Make Ravioli Dolci

  • Put the entire ingredients into a bowl of electronic mixer.
  • Knead until you have smooth dough.
  • Make it into a ball and wrap it up with a plastic foil.
  • Refrigerate the foil for 30 minutes.
  • Divide the dough into smaller pieces.
  • Flatten the piece into a rectangular shape.
  • Put a little flour on it.
  • Run it through a pasta machine.
  • Fold it down the middle and form 3 layers.
  • Keep putting it through the roller until you’ve got the desired texture.
  • Make sure there are no bubbles inside.
  • Apply egg whites to seal off the dough.
  • Cut around the dough to remove any excessive dough.
  • Keep putting the ravioli in a pan.
  • Fry them all together.
  • Once they’re golden on both sides take them out.
  • Cover it with kitchen paper.
  • Dust them up with icing sugar.
  • Serve at room temperature.
