Prawn masala is a pretty standard dish eaten throughout the Indian subcontinents partially due to the lack of meat eaters in India. Like most prawn recipes, the cooking difficulty doesn’t lie in the actual cooking itself, it’s with the marinade. When attempting to cook this recipe, pay extra attention to the marinade; really experiment with it to taste the way you want.  Once you have the marinade down you’ll quickly have a platter of delicious prawns.Prawn Masala recipe tastes great with rice or roti, and the combination makes a great meal for lunch! Ingredients

tbsp oil: 3

prawn – cleaned: 250 g

small stick cinnamon: 1

tsp fennel seeds: 1

cardamoms: 2

large onion – finely chopped: 1

green chillies - slit: 1

sprig curry leaves: 1

tsp ginger garlic paste: 1

tsp chilli powder: 1

tsp coriander powder: 1

tsp turmeric powder: 1/2

tsp garam masala powder: 1/2

tsp pepper powder: 1/2

medium tomatoes – finely chopped: 2

cup water: 1/2

salt to taste

salt to taste

How To Make Prawn Masala

  1. Place clean prawns in a bowl.
    1. Add all the ingredients for the marinade and mix well.
    2. Let sit for 10 mins.
  2. Heat oil in a kadai.
    1. Add the marinated prawns and toss well.
    2. Let it cook for 5 to 7 mins till they turn pink and curl.
  3. Remove the prawns and leave the juices in the kadai.
    1. Let the juice bubble up and reduce for a couple of mins.
    2. Add in cinnamon and fennel seeds,
    3. Cook for 1 minute.
    4. Add in onions, curry leaves, and green chilli.
  4. Sauté for 5 mins or so.
    1. Add in ginger garlic paste and mix well for a minute.
    2. Add in salt and all spice powders and mix well for a minute.
    3. Add in tomatoes and mix well.
  5. Cook covered for 5 mins or so on a low heat till the contentsbecome mushy.
    1. Increase the heat, add some water, and mix well.
    2. Cook for another minute.
  6. Add the cooked prawns and mix well.
  7. Cook for 5 mins or so.
  8. Serve and enjoy!
