Trivia

  • Did you know that carrots are known as some of the most nutritional vegetables, with excellent sources of beta-carotene and other nutrient? You can get one serving of your daily recommended vegetable sources by consuming only one medium sized carrot or a handful of baby carrots.
  • Did you know that the baby carrots we get in super markets are not actually young carrots? Carrot suppliers peel and cut sown damaged parts of carrots down to the shape that we see being sold as “baby carrots”.
  • Contrary to what many people believe, oranges are not named after their color. Instead the word orange is derived from the Sanskrit word naranga, which comes from the Tamil word naru; and means “fragrant”.

In Greek mythology, oranges were known as the fruit of the Gods, referring to them as “golden apples” that were stolen by the Demigod, Hercules.
