Ingredients

tilapia fish fillet – you can use the fish of your choice: 8

tbsp oil: 3

tsp cumin powder – for garnish: 1/2

tbsp lemon juice – for garnish: 2

cup thick plain yogurt: 1

tbsp olive oil – you may use any light oil: 4

medium onion: 1

tbsp ginger paste – fresh: 1

tbsp garlic paste – fresh: 1

tbsp lemon juice – fresh: 4

Red food coloring

tsp turmeric: 1/2

tsp coriander powder: 1

tsp cumin powder: 1

tsp cinnamon powder: 1/4

tsp nutmeg powder: 1/4

tbsp dry mango powder – optional: 1

Red chilli powder to taste

salt to taste

How To Make Fish Tikka

  1. Whisk together all the marinade ingredients in a large bowltill they form a smooth paste.
    1. Add the powdered spices and whisk everything evenly.
  2. Add the fish fillet to the marinade.
    1. Evenly coat both sides using your hand.
  3. Cover the marinated bowl with a lid and refrigerate for an hour.
  4. Preheat the oven to 180°
    1. Line the baking tray with foil and spray evenly with oil.
  5. Remove the marinated fish from the fridge and place them evenly with gaps in between on the lined baking tray.
  6. Bake for 15 mins or until the fish is evenly cooked
  7. Set the oven to the broiler setting.
  8. Place the cooked fish on the top rack of the oven and broil for 3-5 mins or till you achieve the desired charred look.
  9. Remove the broiled fish from the oven

Note: The fish should appear orange red in color with charred marks.

  1. Place freshly cooked fish on serving tray and sprinkle evenly with lemon juice and some cumin powder.
  2. Serve and enjoy!
