Ingredients

cup butter: 1

cups packed brown sugar: 1 1/4

cups all-purpose flour: 2

tsp almond extract: 1

egg: 1

cup blanched slivered almonds: 1/2

How To Make Dutch Almond Boterkoek

  • Preheat the oven to 350°
  • Grease a 9 x 12-inch jelly roll pan or a 9 x13 inch rectangular baking pan.
  • Stirthe brown sugar and the butter/margarine together into a cream.
  • Spoon in the almond extract.
  • Sift and thoroughly mix flour into the creamed sugar mixture.
  • Separate the egg, add the yolk to the dough, then mix again.
  • Press the roll tin into the greased sponge and glaze thoroughly with lightly-beaten egg white.
  • Sprinkle the slivered almonds.
  • Bake for approximately 20 mins.
  • Let the cake cool and cut into bars.
  • Serve and enjoy!
