Ingredients

tbsp coconut oil: 4

tsp fennel seeds: 1

tsp cumin seeds: 1

large onion – finely chopped: 1

green chillies - slit: 2

handful of curry leaves: 1

tbsp ginger garlic paste: 1

tbsp coriander powder: 1

tsp chilli powder: 1

tsp turmeric powder: 1/2

tsp garam masala powder: 2

handful coriander leaves – finely chopped: 1

salt to taste

medium sized crab – cleaned: 4

tsp turmeric powder: 1/2

cup water: 1/2

salt to taste

How To Make Crab Masala

  1. Place cleaned crab in a sauce pan,
    1. Add 1/2 cup of water, salt, and turmeric powder.
    2. Mix well.
    3. Cover and cook for 3 mins.
  2. Strainthe mixture and set aside, reserve the cooking water.
  3. Heat oil in a kadai.
    1. Crackle in cumin and fennel seeds.
    2. Add in onions, green chilli, and curry leaves.
    3. Sauté till onions turn a golden brown.
    4. Add ginger garlic paste and cook for a minute.
    5. Add tomatoes and cook till they turn mushy.
  4. Add the spice powders and salt along with a little bit of the cooking water.
    1. Mix well.
    2. Cook for about 5 minutes.
    3. Add in the crab and toss well in the masala.
    4. Add the remaining water and cook covered for 5 to 6 mins.
  5. Increase the heat and evaporate some of the excess moisture.
  6. Garnish with coriander leaves.
  7. Serve and enjoy!
